Hydrobromic acid will interfere with the oxidation chain reaction of plastic products in the flame, slow or terminate the chain reaction of combustion, so as to achieve the purpose of flame retardancy. The important brominated flame retardants in industry mainly include: tetrabromobisphenol A, bromobenzenethiol, tetrabromophthalic anhydride, poly brominated diphenyl ethers, other aromatic bromine flame retardant, alicyclic and cycloaliphatic brominated flame retardants, bromated oligomers and polymers, etc.

Petroleum Industry

Calcium and sodium bromide have the characteristics of high density, low volatility and low corrosivity in water, so it is used as drilling fluid to help with optimizing the development of oil wells.

Photographic Material: Silver bromide is used as a sensitizer in photography because of its photosensitive and suitable for preparing photosensitive emulsions.
